The Twelfth Season (2009)

The new Butterfly/Hummingbird Garden I installed behind the perennial bed after we cut down several Siberian elms.  In the front of the garden is a small water hole surrounded by large flat rocks where the butterflies can drink and bask.

The kitchen garden with my new favorite annual blooming in the back right. This newer variety sunflower 'Junior' from Renee's Seeds only grows to 2-1/2 feet and is a branching dwarf that blooms for a very long time

A close-up of the new Butterfly and Hummingbird Garden. Some of the plants in the garden are cleome, Irish Eyes rudbeckia, salvia, grandma's zinnias, snaps, Creme Brulee coreopsis, and lupine.

My fragrance garden with ornamental oregano in the foreground next to southernwood then datura in front of several new varieties of Orienpet lilies from Brent and Becky's Bulbs.  I love the new Orienpets because they have the wonderful fragrance and beauty of Oriental lilies yet are much more dependable and winter-hardy.

Mid-August and the perennial bed is in full bloom with purple coneflower, Coronation Gold yarrow, echinops, Siberian catmint and Gateway Joe-pye weed in the back.

Looking through the berry and fall color shrub garden. It is early morning and fog is covering the tall hill behind my home.
