The United States National Arboretum is a little tricky to find, but worth the effort especially if you love herb gardens, azaleas and bonsai.  In the spring, Mount Hamilton's slopes are covered with thousands of azaleas in bloom and the National Herb Garden is one of the nicest I have ever seen with several themed sections such as medical herbs, culinary herbs and beverage herbs.  [Beverage herbs are the ones used to flavor soda, beer, etc.]  The National Bonsai and Penjing Museum contains one of the largest collections of bonsai miniature trees in North America.  For directions and more information on the U.S. National Arboretum, please see their website at www.usna.usda.gov.
