George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate, Museum & Gardens is at the very
least an all-day excursion. There is so much to see and learn and for
those of us that love kitchen gardens--it
is paradise. There are also some very nice flower gardens, but the kitchen gardens
are where Washington really excelled and rival those of any French chateau
(except perhaps Villandry!). It is easy
to get to Mt. Vernon right from Reagan Airport and it is only about a half hour drive on
a quiet and scenic highway. For directions and more information on the
Mount Vernon Estate, Museum and Gardens, please see their website at
www.mountvernon.org.
