Quebec City is a gardener's paradise. There is the Quebec Zoological Garden Park, the extensive Van den Hende gardens at Laval
University, and best of all Francis H. Cabot's Gardens at Les Quatre Vents.
Actually, Les Quatre Vents is not really in Quebec City, but well worth the 2
hour drive north to La Malbaie. Les Quatre Vents is only open to the public 4
times a year to benefit the Centre écologique de Port-au-Saumon. For more
information on touring the gardens, see their webpage at
http://www.cepas.qc.ca, but to
really experience the gardens, buy the book
"The Greater Perfection" written by Francis H. Cabot. It is my favorite
garden book and one of the few that I go back to over and over when I just want
to curl up on the couch, look at beautiful garden photos and enjoy a true
gardener's description of how he developed his magnificent gardens.
