The Garvan Woodland Gardens
The University of Arkansas' Botanical Garden at Hot Springs

A model train railroad garden.
This is truly one of the undiscovered garden gems in America.  My parents stay in Hot Springs, Arkansas every spring and when they invited us to come and stay a few years ago, we naturally looked for public gardens to visit in the area.  When they took me to the The Garvan Woodland Gardens...I was blown away.  They are nothing less than spectacular, especially in the spring when the magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas and thousands of spring flowering bulbs are in full bloom.  Plus, if you are already a member of an arboretum or botanic garden, you may be able to visit the Garvan Woodland Gardens for no charge through the AHS Reciprocal Gardens program.  I have a .pdf list of the participating public gardens here. For directions and more information on the gardens, see their website at http://www.garvangardens.com.
