| At first glance
these watering cans look like expensive garden sculptures, but
they also get the job done and do it well. The Wilbur the Pig
watering can has a
rose for a gentle shower of water; its coiled tail springs to
the touch. The Rooster watering can has a precise watering spout
for direct application. Both are handcrafted steel with a weather-resistant,
multi-layer antique bronze finish with hand-applied golden
highlights. 3 qt. capacity. Plow
and Hearth.

How about giving a good gardening book to your favorite northern gardener? I've collected all my favorite garden books on my Book Page. I especially recommend "Growing Perennials in Cold Climates" by Mike Heger and Larry Whitman for those just getting into gardening. It describes 55 pretty bulletproof hardy perennials and also gives good basic gardening information on installing and maintaining a cold climate perennial garden. Amazon. |

Keep everything you need for starting seeds and repotting plants, right at your fingertips. This potting bench features hooks for scissors and hand tools, and a roomy bottom shelf for storing soil and pots. The planting area has a slatted top so extra soil collects in a plastic slide-out bin below. At just 37" wide, the bench can be located almost anywhere to give you a convenient work area.

I bought this Copper Lily Rain Chain last summer
and hung it from the corner of my house where
the water could run down into my rain garden.
It worked amazingly well, and looks spectacular.
Especially on a drizzly day when the rain gently
cascades down the chain. Handcrafted out
of solid copper, the rain chains are
approximately 8 feet long, but can be shortened
or combined with another unit for greater
length. The rain chain installs easily -
simply place into your existing gutter system in
place of a downspout. Copper will patina
naturally to a green verdigris finish.
