Late spring and the sweet William, lady's mantle, 'William Baffin' rose
(arbor) and 'May Night' salvia are in bloom.

Early July and the cleome and bee balm (monarda) are gorgeous!

The front of the garden. The red drooping plant is an old Victorian cottage garden
plant, Love-Lies-Bleeding.

A close-up of the daylilies,
Russian sage and feverfew. If you look in back,
you will see the new pathways through the fragrance and shade gardens (next

My ornamental grass garden with Calamagrostis a. 'Karl Foerster', little bluestem
(Schizachyrium scoparium), switchgrass Panicum v. ‘Heavy
Metal', Miscanthus var. purpurescens and an incredible rock that we unearthed
when building a new outbuilding.

The "Bubbling Rock." A great favorite of orioles and all other
birds--this is the extent of my water gardening now. The bench in the
background is made from the same stone that edges most of the pathways and
gardens (from a nearby quarry at Winona, Minnesota, Biesanz
Stone Company).
