The Eighth Season (2005)
|
We are situated at the bottom of 2 huge hills, so between the spring thaw
and an abundance of spring storms, most of my gardens ended up underwater.
The kitchen garden is the square garden covered with water on the middle left.

A close-up of the perennial garden. An irrigation pipe has floated
in from somewhere and is splitting the waterfall that was once my pathway. I'm
still not sure where all the pea rock ended up.
|
|
Mid-July and my garden seems to have survived the onslaught. All I can
say is, "Thank goodness for the pathways." Most the water followed the path
of least resistance, which kept the soil from the gardens from washing away.
I would much rather replace the pea rock and wood mulch than plants and soil!

I replaced the bubbling rock (fourth season) with an olive jar water feature. It has a
better sound and makes a little more of a statement.

Looking back at the new water jug (middle right) from the other direction.
There is also a new bog garden behind the jug, but it won't be ready for
photographs until next year!

A new iron bench in the winter shrub garden.
Turtlehead is blooming on
the right and in back of the bench (pink) and nasturtiums and nicotiana are
growing underneath.
